About Ellie I have a passion for teaching my clients how to achieve and maintain physical and emotional wellness that lasts a lifetime. I began my own journey into alternative health with a personal health crisis in my 20’s that forced me to quit my job and focus on healing. Working in a factory with various toxic chemical exposures brought my body to its knees. After CAT scans, ultrasounds, two emergency trips to the hospital and the suggestion of exploratory surgery to diagnose my “unknown” illness, I took the plunge, quit my job and never looked back. Within one month of following a healing, whole foods diet along with other natural health therapies (which I now teach to others) my health was well on the way to optimum. My interest in fitness, nutrition and the body-mind-spirit approach began in my teens and eventually led me to The Canadian School of Natural Nutrition. I graduated as a Registered Holistic Nutritionist in 2002 and began practising soon after. I realized very early in my practice that addressing health concerns is a complicated process that requires a multi-disciplinary approach. My main focus was on helping people live healthier lives, and since weightlifting and fitness have been a passion of mine since my teenage years, the natural progression from nutrition was to incorporate fitness expertise into my skill set. I became certified as a Personal Trainer Specialist with The Canadian Fitness Professionals Association and went on to complete an apprenticeship in a busy personal training studio. I added some specialized training in holistic sports nutrition and earned a Certified Sports Nutrition Advisor designation from the Cory Holly Institute of Holistic Sports Nutrition. It was about this time in my life that I began doing deeper energy work and came to the realization that clearing subconscious programming and energetic blocks are vital to doing what we know we should do and what we say we want to do! I had the epiphany that having all the knowledge in the world about nutrition and fitness wouldn’t help me (or my clients) apply that knowledge and really make the changes I (we) wanted to make. The solid base of spiritual healing methods and honed intuition I’m blessed with now is thanks to three levels of Reiki training and deep personal spiritual exploration. I went on to incorporate a powerful energy clearing and emotional regulation tool known as EFT, Emotional Freedom Techniques, sometimes referred to as “tapping”. EFT involves tapping with the fingertips on acupuncture points and is increasingly used by clinicians to help people clear emotional blocks both in the body and in the mind. It is truly a mind-body-spirit technique with powerful effects that pave the way for healing at very deep levels of being. Most recently, I upgraded my education around mental and emotional health and acquired a diploma as a social service worker through St. Lawrence College in Kingston. This addition qualifies me to provide coaching and support for those struggling with mental health challenges, addictions, relationship problems or other emotional issues. My specialties include: Helping clients overcome self-sabotage and change their health habits to support the life they truly want to live. This may include work on emotional or stress eating, resistance to exercise, stress management, energetic blocks and lack of knowledge or direction on how to change. Helping clients clear emotional, spiritual and energetic blocks, rewire subconscious programming and teach them EFT for self-application and emotional regulation related to any presenting symptoms. EFT is useful for any issue that may have an emotional or energetic root cause or contributor including physical pain, dis-ease of any kind, relationship issues, addictions or fears. My EFT coaching work relies heavily on the spiritual principles of law of attraction and how we create our own realities, for better or for worse, through our self-talk and our subconscious wiring. Helping clients understand their nutrition requirements and providing knowledge and support in shifting to a whole-foods, sustainable diet. I deeply appreciate the need for a multi-faceted approach to healing, looking at the whole person and creating a team of wellness professionals that can support an individual’s journey toward health. There is so much to learn about ourselves, life and the nature of our universe through the healing path and I look forward to being a guide to help you navigate your way through sections of the territory.
